Spring is Also a Time for Baby Animals on the Farm
Ducklings!     We may be small now... But in a few months we're big like mom and dad!
Did you know, duck eggs are more rich and delicious tasting than chicken eggs and make baked goods moist and extra tasty.

Baby Chloe and William, exploring the farm.

Chloe and William all grown up! They are very gentle and patient.

Sometimes our goat twins William and Chloe miss the days when they were small enough to come out with the children and get all the hugs and pets and kisses.   So stop in and say hello. They will appreciate it.

Chloe and William were born in early April, 2020 and came to the farm later that same morning with their mama Rosie.  Rosie is our current milk goat.

  Spring chicks grow super fast!

By two weeks old they'll already be sprouting out wing feathers and growing bigger.

Once the chicks have reached a sized where they look similar to the adult hens, and have stopped making peeping sounds, they will transition out of the baby animal pen and join the adults.

At six months old they'll be ready to lay eggs.  Most of our hens slow down or stop laying eggs for the winter.  But the spring chickens will be just gearing up.  And so we will still have eggs available for baking projects!

Can You Build a House for a Chick?
This engineering challenge was tricky, but very tasty!

Every Day is Earth Day!

Fungi come in many types besides the well known mushroom.  But all are part of nature's system of turning dead things into healthy compost to nourish plants.
worm farm

A worm composter is a more efficient way to turn leftover food waste into compost!  Plus, it comes with cool creatures to observe.  No citrus peels please!  That's too much acid for the worms' to digest.
